Voting Question: What's the best mp3 player that's not an iPod?

I'd like an mp3 player, but my dad says iPods are too expensive. I'm not looking for anything with a ton of bells and whistles. Sure, an iPhone would be nice, but that's out of the question. So instead, I'm looking for something that can hold at least 2000 songs and won't break too easily. Also, I don't want anything screen-less, like an iPod shuffle. Also below $150, preferably? Thanks.
