Open Question: Why would you buy a MP3/MP4 player when there're smartphones?

I've been wondering about this for quite some time now. Why would someone want to get say iPod Touch or anything of that sort if he already had an iPhone or pretty much any other smartphone? Smartphones are capable of virtually anything a MP3/MP4 player has to offer + the ability to make phone calls and stuff. Carrying two devices around is impractical to say the least.
