Devices in order of my preference: 1) Cowon J3 2) Zune HD 3) iPod Touch fourth generation OR third generation 4) Cowon S9 5) Samsung P3 Now, a list of characteristics in order of importance to me: 1) Excellent sound quality 2) Fast, fluid, manageable, and pleasing user interface 3) Long battery life 4) Reliability 5) Considerable user and community support, like constant firmware updates, hacks, etc. 6) Reasonable price 6) No software tie-downs 7) Applications, wireless, other nice "bonus" features 8) Memory expansion I want to see what you people think which device I listed has the best balance of the above characteristics. What feature(s) would you sacrifice and why? Would you pay more just for a set of features? Which one is the most practical (in terms of listening to music and value)? Did you have any hands-on (or in-ear xD) experience with the device(s)? I put the Cowon J3 at the top because of Cowon's notorious reputation for making portable device with extraordinary sound quality. Also, its battery life is specified to last 64 hours for playing audio, and it has a pretty nice screen. Unfortunately you do pay a premium and you don't get features like Wi-Fi and apps.
